Energy Conservation
The more we consume the more energy we burn. If you really break it down, every step we take we are burning energy.
The battery that we need to make us run is calories. To make calories, you have to manufacture food. This is where all the fun starts.
Our bodies are at the bottom of the energy food chain. Who is at the top? It is hard to say because chances are you will never get an accurate statistic.
It is very important to pay attention to the big energy wasters, such as industry, airlines, railroad, trucking, military etc.
It is also important to take a look at ourselves, and our environment that surrounds us. If you take a drive just in your neighborhood,
you will probably start to notice many energy inefficient or wasteful items.
Start a focus group. As a focus group, your goal will be to identify and reduce the energy expenditure in your area. Study your neighborhood.
See who keeps unnecessary lights on at night. If it is the city, ask them to justify why that light is necessary.
If they balk start a petition. The more lights at night, the stars will not be bright.
You can canvas the area with flyers denoting items of concern. Most reasonable people will generally go along with common sense.
But we all are aware that some just do not care. Their wastefulness is everyone’s loss.
Just think about the macro for a second. If your group can decrease X amount of light bulbs, air-conditioning settings, water usage, etc.
The end result will be a cleaner healthier planet.
